Practicing. Feeling. Understanding. Teaching. From inside

Join Chris Morita Clancy in a comprehensive 800-hour Vijnana Yoga International Teacher Training
Starts May, 2018

The Vijnana Yoga Teacher Training, led by Chris Morita Clancy, is a comprehensive 800-hour, thirty month/three-module yoga training grounded in practice and inner listening. This in-depth training prepares you to become a yoga teacher and share what you love authentically, serving you and your students through all stages of life. The course is also for self-development, personal growth, and to establish and deepen your yoga practice.

To commit to this practice is to undertake a discipline that will transform your body, heart and consciousness.

  • Cultivate listening, looking, and sensing from inside to access subtler levels of awareness so you can tap into your own highest wisdom with purpose and authenticity.
  • Learn to touch the silence and stillness that is always present within, yet often concealed, so that you can experience equanimity even in times of challenge.
  • Allow time and experience to integrate the physical and philosophical aspects of yoga into your life, so the teaching unfolds from within.
  • On successful completion of the first two stages, you can apply for a letter to register as a teacher with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Upon successful completion of all three stages and a practice evaluation, you will receive a Vijnana Yoga International Teaching Certificate.

Testimonials

“With the enthusiastic encouragement of a good friend who had taken the Vijanana Teacher Training program with Chris, I swallowed my doubts about adding a three-year commitment to my busy life and signed up.

Five months into the program, I found that the daily practice settled and focused me in a way that I had been craving. Now, a year after graduating, I find that the quiet contemplation in my regular practice – which would never have become established without the program – is essential to me.  My 52-year-old body is responding to the training with renewed flexibility, strength and vigour, and, seemingly by magic, and I seem to be finally clearing away clutter in my life to focus on things that matter.

Taking that time has helped me to discover how I can create balance and joy in my life,  for myself and others. The pain inherent in recognizing and letting go of dysfunctional ideas and habits opens space for healing, learning and growing that encourages me along this path.”  Emily Erickson McCullum, Yoga Teacher, Bowen Island

“Chris, what a blessing it has been to be your student. You love, acceptance and encouragement has been the key to this 3 years being life changing. I wish our sadhana wasn’t ending. Thank-you for the sacred space that you have created for us each to explore our spiritual journey. So much love”   Samantha Dickie, Victoria BC

About Chris

Chris Morita Clancy, a teacher of teachers, began her yoga journey 30 years ago.

Dedicated to yoga as a life practice, Chris helps her students uncover the ‘living’ yoga by moving beyond the physical reward toward an inward journey that extends long after the class is over.

Chris invites her students to move inward from gross to subtle experiences of body, breath and consciousness as they deepen their yoga practice. She weaves together lessons from a daily practice with the emerging science of biotensegrity to bring a new perspective to anatomy, movement, and yoga, teaching the experience of balance, ease, and freedom as a natural state of being.

Chris brings Embodied Biotensegrity courses to yoga teachers and health and wellness professionals, is a board member of the Stephen M. Levin Biotensegrity Archive and has made contributions to upcoming books with Handspring Publishing. She is registered and certified with: Vijnana Yoga International, International Yoga Teachers Association, Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500, YACEP) and the South Okanagan Yoga Academy.

Chris is grateful to her many teachers and mentors including Orit Sen-Gupta and Gioia Irwin of the Vijnana Yoga lineage, and biotensegrity experts Dr. Stephen Levin, Susan Lowell de Soloranzo and Graham Scar.  She shares her first teacher trainer Mugs McConnell’s commitment to Swami Sivananda’s words  “The paths are many, the Truth is One”.

FAQs

Who can take the training program?

This program is for anyone who wants to develop a lifelong yoga practice based in deep inner listening, for yoga teachers who wish to take their teaching to a new level, and for practitioners of two or more years who want to become a yoga teacher.

This program is not for people looking for yoga as fitness, a quick fix, or a Guru/disciple relationship.

What if I have to miss a session? What is the refund policy?

In registering for this program you are making a commitment to yourself, your teacher, and to your peers. Annual payments are nonrefundable and are due on schedule. Participants are required to make up missed in-person events at their own expense to receive certification.

The strict no refund policy is in place to confirm your deep commitment to the program, to a daily practice, attendance, and on-time completion of assignments.

What is required to get certification, and may I teach before the end of the 30-month program?

To receive certification with Vijnana Yoga International, you need to successfully complete the assignments, attendance requirements, personal practice goals, and a practice evaluation with Chris and Vijnana Yoga founder Orit Sen Gupta (or another Vijnana Yoga teacher trainer).

After you have completed stage one and stage two of the training successfully, including all assignments, teaching practicum, and teaching feedback sessions, you can request a letter for submission to register with the Canadian Yoga Alliance (CYA). Registration with the CYA will permit you to purchase insurance and apply to teach at yoga studios and other venues.

Why are the immersions in different locations?

The 2018 – 2020 Vijnana Yoga training has been designed to be more accessible than a full retreat-style training and includes a three 5 day annual retreats, three 5 day immersions in Victoria, and ten 3 day immersions in Vancouver. Immersion sessions allow participants from Vancouver, the lower mainland, and the island to sleep at home, share rental accommodation, stay with friends or billet with each other.

The limited number of retreat days keeps the overall cost of the training down and allows for fewer days off of the regular work week.

Is the evaluation required to become a certified Vijnana Yoga Instructor?

Yes, the evaluation is required to demonstrate your embodiment of Vijnana yoga principles and certification.

The cost of evaluation is $250.00 over and above the program fees.

Evaluations of practice are 2 hours in length in groups of 8 (max) and will held at the third annual retreat of the program.

Evaluators will be Chris Clancy and Orit Sen Gupta, or another certified Vijnana Yoga Trainer*.
